Rart® Development Kit, RDK 2.0 Beta, January 31, 2003.

RDK 2.0 Examples

This release of RDK coincides with a major revision of the Rart web site. From now on all new universes displayed in the Gallery will run under one of the rartrunners released herewith. Possibly the best example of current universes in RDK 2.0 is the current Demo in the Gallery. This Demo uses a slightly modified RRlet rartrunner to start up randomly picked universes with random current values for the uParameters. We are interspersing the running of the universes with quotes that we found relevant to Rart as an art form.

RDK 2.0 Release Notes - - - Not yet posted.

RDK 2.0 beta is a comprehensive release of the Rart Programming environment. It consists of source- and Java class files together with the documentation to enable also inexperienced Java programmers to develop their own Rart universes. The RDK also includes the rartrunner programs intended to execute Rart universes in different execution environments.

Documentation

Possibly the best source for learning and understanding Rart programming is the concurrently released An Introduction to Java based on Java's Platform Independent Graphics Capabilities

The documentation included with RDK is intended for Java programmers and should provide information sufficient to allow programmers to program their own universes. The release notes referenced above provide a fair amount of information. The Rart Home Page provides general additional information as well as the above mationed Introduction, where Exercises EX3, EX4, and EX5 all provide self study sessions. See also Principles of Rart for details of the conceptual background.
